Hotel and Restaurant Reviews

Please have a look at The Benjamin Hotel Sidewalk Cafe Critique, and keep a look out for the Olive&Oil Critique coming out soon! There will also be a review of Upton Hall and Docklands Hotel and Wodka Restaurant as well.

I am also starting a comparative restaurant crit - focusing on a popular family restaurant chain. Watch this space!

    Hi,

    As a restaurant owner, I have to ask how you are qualified to review restaurants. A little background on your experience, your knowledge of food etc would go a long way. I don't mean to be rude, but many restaurants want to make sure they are not simply getting a whimsical amateur reporting on their food.

    The other point is that your readership does not seem to be high enough to warrant free meals. You have a couple spikes, but it seems that those were related to cyclone news, and the rest of your site remains unvisited? If this is not the case, you will need to show evidence for this.

    Thank you so much for your comment! I apologise for taking so long to reply, we were out with our two little girls until this evening.

    I like your comment and queries, it shows me that at least someone is reading!

    I have included everything that you need to know in my updated Biography: http://sandyramblings.blogspot.com/p/biography.html and hope that that suffices? It gives a clear idea of who I am.

    I do not ever expect complimentary meals - ever. I pay my own way to show support for the hard work and effort that goes into the hospitality industry. I know how hard you all work and wouldn’t dream of taking away what earnings are rightfully yours. If I am offered comps, I accept gracefully because I also value being ‘blessed’.

    You’ll see in the Bio that I have a readership of 25,000 monthly via my Journalist position at the Mivoice Tabloid (Ballito to Umgeni River) and post my articles to my personal blog (hierdie eentjie) as well.

    I am quite pleased with my readership spikes  for a personal blog that sat at 3000 hits last September and now sits at over 34, 500 hits in March – I am stoked! I write positive happy newsy interesting ramblings here, and report on any news that I get to hear of (often before any of the local online newspapers) I hope to reach +30,000 hits a month one day!

    I would love to know your name and which restaurant… I’m always keen to try something new.
