Super Storm Approaching New York to Boston and Beyond

"Heavy snow started to fall across the Northeast today at the start of what could be an historic blizzard, as residents scurried to stock up on food and water and road crews readied salt and sand."

Thousands of schools have closed, already more than 3,700 flights have been cancelled and residents are being warned not to leave their homes as winter storm Nemo threatens to dump a staggering three feet of snow along the coast this weekend.

With memories of Hurricane Sandy still raw, homes now face a storm meteorologists have described as a potential 'monster' which could be the biggest blizzard some cities have seen in a century. 

As well as heavy snow accumulation from New York to Boston and beyond, hurricane-force winds are expected in coastal areas - battering the same regions worst affected by Sandy in October.
