Watch the web for global Volcano eruptions, Earthquakes, Typhoons, Cyclones, Tsunamis and other anomalies like Mass animal deaths.
I don't know if this is the beginning of the end, but I do know that it is a time for introspection and loving one another.
Think about what is truly important to you.

ReplyDeleteWhile I like the idea of loving one another, I am surprised that you believe anything coming from sites like these. There are very qualified and experienced scientists who have been putting out reputable information about this relatively minor comet ever since it was discovered.
Also, doesn't it strike you as odd that websites like these, who have been disseminating bullshit for ages, would suddenly be the only place you could find the truth? Don't you think that maybe these people, desperate for supporting evidence for their 2012 doomsday prophecy, have simply latched on to this comet, distorting the facts to support their wild claims.
Here is the thing. Scientists are not going to hide stuff like this. They simply won't. Science is not engineered for it. Scientists love it when they are wrong. It means there is something more to discover. Scientists love it even more when one of their contemporaries are wrong. Gives them a chance to find the solution themselves. For something to even be published in the first place, means that hundreds of their peers have pored over the evidence, searching for some mistake, or some reason why the theory is flawed. Only when there is general consensus among the smartest minds on our planet, is something accepted as fact. Scientists will not, nor are they able to, ever take part in a cover up of this magnitude. Science is just not built for it.
(this is another reason why the doubts evolution or global warming, are not really founded at all. They are accepted facts and it is only the uneducated that dispute them.)
I don't mean to come off as rude. I like your blog, and I like reading your opinions, but this is a subject where opinion doesn't really have a place, as we are dealing with facts.

Thanks for the comment :o) I think that sensationalism is key here - people are enjoying the 'thrill' of it. From my side I think 'hey, life may be quite droll for some people and this is a way to spice things up' - I just hope that people dont do stupid things like jump off bridges!!

ReplyDeleteI agree that people love sensationalism, but I think it goes deeper. People have a yearning to understand our purpose, and the meaning of everything. Science is also trying to answer the same questions, but unfortunately, the more that science progresses, the more difficult it becomes for a lay person to understand. This leads to people rejecting it in favour of supernatural answers, because they are easier to explain. Of course the supernatural explanations are always manufactured by our vivid imaginations, and have no basis in reality, but because they are easier to understand, and often case provide satisfying explanations, people latch on to them.
This is how all religion was born. It is simply a bi-product of evolution, and attempts to provide palatable answers to difficult questions. Of course, this only enhances people's mistrust of science, when science disproves what they have believed for so long.
